Parent Involvement
Welcoming Families As Partners in Learning
There are so many ways to get involved and support your child’s learning journey with us
Parent Involvement
Parents’ Association
Mountain Gate Primary School’s PTFA plays a vital role in enriching our school environment and supporting the holistic development of students. We believe in strong partnerships between home and school and encourage parent/carer involvement.
If you’re interested in getting involved in the PTFA, consider attending a PTFA meeting on the first Tuesday of the month to learn more about how you can contribute.
Core Objectives of a PTFA
- Strengthening School-Home Connections
- Fundraising: Organizing events to raise funds for resources and activities that enrich the school experience.
- Community Building: Hosting social events to build a sense of community among families.
- Supporting School Initiatives: Assisting with various school projects and
activities.
Literacy Help
Mountain Gate Primary School has always valued parent/adult assistance. One of the many ways parents/carers can assist is as a Classroom Helper. This involves assisting in your child’s classroom during a literacy session. During these sessions you may be asked to discuss a book with a small group of students, participate in one-on-one reading, assist with an activity, play a game or read with a small group.
However, in compliance with the Department of Education and Training directives, all classroom visitors and volunteers must have a Working with Children check completed (applications are available online or at the post office) and have completed
the Literacy at Home Training Program held onsite at school.
If you would like to educate yourself on how you can help your child at home or assist as a Classroom Helper, please join us for ONE of the information sessions held early in the school year.
School Advisory Council
The School Council supports the Principal to provide the best possible educational outcomes for students. Mountain Gate Primary’s School Council is responsible for the governance of the school and approving the policy directions. Elections are held every year at the beginning of the school year.
School Council is responsible for ratifying policies formulated by the school leadership team. General policies are reviewed in accordance with departmental mandates and guidelines. All policies are available for the school community.
Uniform Shop
Having a uniform shop on-site simplifies the purchasing process for our families, saving you time and effort. It eliminates the need to visit multiple stores, ensuring that all
required uniform items are readily available in one location.
Please see attached for uniform requirements and costs.
