Meet Our Teachers
Quality Teachers Makes a Quality School
Our team is dedicated to meeting the needs of every student in our care.
We are fortunate to have passionate and talented teachers.
Meet them here!
Mountain Gate teachers focus on evidence-based learning methods, offering our students the most effective teaching practices. They stay at the forefront of education through their professional development and have a commitment to continuous improvement.
Through Professional Learning Teams our teachers frequently meet to learn from one another and explore and discuss evidence-based effective teaching practices, plan for consistent implementation in the classroom, share their practice and data, and keep our students engaged.
Just as we encourage our students to be critical thinkers, we also encourage our teachers to be reflective and ever-adaptable.
Mountain Gate Primary School is an exciting place to learn. Our excellent results are a positive reflection of the consistency in effective teaching practice, quality evidence-based programs and our teacher’s dedication to each student’s learning journey.

Foundation Teachers
Foundation is the beginning of your child’s fabulous journey as a Gater! We create a safe, welcoming and engaging learning environment where our students, families and staff work as a team to ensure all students thrive socially, emotionally and academically in their first year at school.
Children learn and practise behaviours required to work collaboratively with their peers, and we build the foundations for literacy and numeracy.
Foundation is a busy, exciting year where children gain new skills and knowledge, but more importantly it is also a year to foster a love for learning and building confidence in their educational journey.

Learning is fun in Grade One – both for students and the teachers as we introduce them to the joy of exploring new concepts and further develop academic skills. It’s a time when students confidence and understanding of the processes of reading, writing, and maths grows and they start working together in group tasks whilst also expanding their social and emotional skills. We love seeing the incredible growth in our Gaters over the year with learning and wellbeing development extending beyond the boundaries of the classroom with excursions and whole school activities.

We aim to have all students in Grade Two start developing their independence and widening their friendship circles. It’s a big year for literacy and numeracy as we help students understand, master and apply core skills and concepts. We work together in engaging, personalised and differentiated learning experiences and continue shaping students’ attitudes to learning. Lots of fun is had inside and outside the classroom, especially when participating in excursions and incursions. We move our bodies in a gymnastics or circus skills program and finish the year with a swimming program. It’s a time to discover and grow together.

Grade 3 is an exciting year for our students as they head into their middle schooling years. It is a time of transition where our students will have mastered many of their early years foundations in literacy and numeracy and will now begin to acquire more complex understandings. We create a fun but structured environment for all students to thrive. Students are excited by new opportunities such as 3/4 sport, using the senior playground, interschool sport and their first overnight school camp!
Grade 3 is a year of increasing intellectual independence, stronger social connections, and physical growth. The focus shifts toward deeper learning and more complex skills, while also fostering a growing sense of confidence and responsibility. It’s a pivotal year where children start to see themselves as capable, independent learners and individuals.

This year we aren’t just learning, we are growing up! We are supporting each other, building a strong, caring community. Grade Four Gaters utilise prior knowledge to consolidate both ‘learning to read and write’ and ‘reading and writing to learn’. The mathematics learning program emphasises the purpose of mathematics and how it is relevant to daily life.
Curiosity is spiked and we learn more about how to work successfully together on projects that include building and exploding volcanoes! Grade Four gives us the opportunity to participate in Bike Education, District Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country. We showcase our teamwork skills through activities such as Hooptime Basketball, the Grade 4 cricket tournament and camp.
We focus on our wellbeing, practising kindness, resilience and mindfulness through The Resilience Project. Grade 4 is a fantastic year full of growth and developing the love of learning that will set us up for upper school.

Come alive in Grade 5! It’s a time when the students’ cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development takes a big leap forward. Your child will be inspired by reading, develop key understandings in maths, challenged by interesting ideas, and will learn about other people and places.
This year is packed with epic experiences – think adventure-filled camps, school productions, and making a splash in swimming. Plus, students step up as leaders, whether as a supportive buddy or an inspiring captain, building skills that last a lifetime!

We are privileged to be part of your child’s final year of primary school at MGPS. It is a time of consolidation of prior skills, new learning, discovering more about ourselves, transition and preparation. This year is filled with opportunities for students to grow and thrive, building their confidence as independent learners. We reflect on how personal strengths assist us in achieving success at home, at school and in the community, and learn skills and the importance of being adaptable, persistent and resilient when dealing with new or challenging situations. The leadership program in Year 6 allows all students to experience leadership with opportunities for every student to contribute to our community in a meaningful way. They are encouraged to take initiative and model the core values of Mountain Gate Primary School. The year culminates in a Graduation Ceremony to celebrate the experiences, friendships and successes of not only the year, but their time as a Gater.
