Kinder to Foundation Transition

Foundation transition allows our future Gaters to be school ready!

Starting school is a big milestone for children and their families. The transition between learning environments can be both challenging and exciting but when carefully planned it leads to a greater connection and a positive start. Our aim is to make your child’s transition from kindergarten to school as smooth and enjoyable as possible, and to ensure parents and carers are well informed throughout the transition process
We have close communication with local kindergartens and daycare centres and work together to support transition into school and the continuity of learning for each child. Families are welcome to share information and specific strategies that can support your child’s start to school.

Four Transition sessions are held towards the end of the year. Children have the opportunity to immerse themselves in school life. They begin to understand the routines of classroom life, experience a snapshot of all specialist classes and familiarise themselves with the playground and their surroundings. It is a time where we get to know your child and they get to know us!
To welcome you and your child to our community, transitioning students and their families are invited to our annual ‘Prep ‘Expo’ and BBQ in December where you will have the opportunity to experience our friendly community and what life is like as a ‘Gater’.
